News ArchivesWeek of January 9, 2005 Too warm to sleep The BBC reports that in one Russian zoo, the winter has been so warm that the brown bear never began to hibernate, while the black bear began but woke up early. And out in the wilds of Russia, such animals as badgers and bears also did not hibernate or woke early, while spring flowers are already in bloom.
