Christmas bird count carries on

Birders around the U.S. turned out this weekend to join the Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count. Every year at this time birders wander their local area, seeing which birds they can find and reporting their findings to Audubon.

Most folks have lots of fun, though some find disappointment, especially in grassland areas where bird species are rapidly declining.

Our friends at City Birder have an account of their experience counting birds around NYC. A big salute to everyone who is participating!
